July 30, 2013- Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) isn't worried about an investigation that's partly focused on her 2012 presidential bid.
The 2012 hopeful told reporters at Minnesota's Capitol on Tuesday that "these processes go on for year and years and years" and said she's not worried about an extension of the investigation by the House Ethics Committee.
"I don't think anything is going to come from it," Bachmann said. "I think that ultimately everything is going to be great."
The AP reported earlier that a lawyer for Bachmann had previously acknowledged the probe by the Office of Congressional Ethics, noting that Bachmann was cooperating with the investigation.

July 26, 2013- The House Ethics Committee has confirmed an ongoing review into Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn), which has just been extended.
Bachmann’s lawyer confirmed in March that the Office of Congressional Ethics was looking into the congresswoman’s campaign finances. The OCE, a non-partisan, independent entity, can either dismiss a case or recommend a full House Ethics Committee investigation.
“[T]he mere fact of a referral or an extension, and the mandatory disclosure of such an extension and the name of the subject of the matter, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee,” the committee said in a statement.
William McGinley, Bachmann’s lawyer, referred to the panel’s statement in an e-mail, emphasizing the extension “does not speak to the merits of this matter, and any inference to the contrary is false.
“We are confident the Committee will discover, upon proper review, that the highly politicized allegations made at the OCE level were baseless and without merit,” he wrote.
According to the Star Tribune, the OCE focused its questions on Bachmann’s 2011 book tour.
July 26, 2013- The House Ethics Committee is extending an investigation of Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota.
The committee announced on Friday it had received a referral from the Office of Congressional Ethics, an independent investigative body, and said in a brief statement that it would extend its formal investigation of the one-time Republican presidential candidate.
A lawyer for Bachmann had previously acknowledged the investigation by the OCE and said that Bachmann was cooperating. That probe is focused in part on her short-lived presidential bid.
Bachmann, a leader in the tea party movement, announced earlier this year she would not seek re-election.

July 15, 2013- He first bought the tiny company’s stock after bunking down in its chief executive’s six-bedroom home.
He added to his holdings soon after the rollout of a new product that the company hinted could be a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
As the stock reached a 52-week high last year, he sold part of his portfolio for a $4,000 profit.
Kenneth T. Cuccinelli II, Virginia’s attorney general, said that the timing of his ownership of Star Scientific shares reflected nothing more than his own investment analysis.
Star Scientific and its chief executive have been at the center of an exploding political drama in Virginia as state and federal investigators look into lavish gifts that the executive, Jonnie R. Williams Sr., gave Gov. Bob McDonnell.
And now, despite his efforts to distance himself, scrutiny is growing of Mr. Cuccinelli’s ties to the executive.
Aides to Mr. Cuccinelli, the Republican candidate for governor this year, insisted he enjoyed nothing like the relationship to Mr. Williams that Mr. McDonnell had. Last week Mr. Cuccinelli indirectly condemned Mr. McDonnell, a fellow Republican, for the first time, lamenting, “What we’ve all been seeing is very painful for Virginia.”

June 11, 2013- An FBI investigation into money laundering, wire fraud, and mail fraud has not stopped Rep. Michele Bachmann from continuing to raise money for a reelection campaign that she isn’t running.
According to the University of Minnesota’s Smart Politics blog, Nearly two weeks after announcing she would not seek a 5th term from Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District, Republican Michele Bachmann’s congressional campaign website is still locked and loaded to take in money. The campaign’s donation page is still featured and functional.” The donation page is still claiming that, “Obama and the Democrats are targeting Michele for speaking out against their extreme liberal agenda. They will do, say and spend whatever it takes to defeat her.”
